Arsenal and Chelsea target Alexandre Lacazette 'hurt and disappointed' by Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas after making contract talks public
Alexandre Lacazette has hit out at
Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas for his role in the negotiations of him
signing a new deal at the club.
Lacazette penned a new one-year
extension on his contract last month worth £3.1million a year, keeping
him at the Stade Gerland now until 2019.
But despite only recently committing
his future with the French giants, the the 24-year-old is unhappy at
how the process came about.

In June, Aulas said he was offering
Lacazette a contract extension worth £3m a year, adding the figure would
make the striker the club’s best paid player.
Speaking about Aulas’ decision to
make the details of discussions of a contract extension public, the
24-year-old told L’Equipe that he was ‘hurt and disappointed’.
‘It hurt. I think that is a
justified word to use. When you are a youngster at the club, in the
town, and you have never really behaved in a nasty way to anyone, to be
treated like that, yes, it hurts. I had had my best ever season, I
really helped the team to reach the Champions League again,’ he said.
‘Yes, it is his (Aulas’) attitude.
When he talks, a lot of fans listen. And when he retells things, seen
from his point of view, it makes you think that the player is in the
wrong. Yes his behaviour hurt and disappointed me.’
Lacazette scored 27 Ligue 1 goals
and 31 in total for Les Gones in the 2014-15 season in a stunning
campaign that saw the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool monitor
his progress closely.

The France international’s displays
helped Lyon finished as runners-up to Paris Saint-Germain last season.
Off-the-back of this the forward also revealed to L’Equipe he expected
more lucrative terms on his new deal after two campaigns of improvement
at the club.
However, as the negotiations played
out over the summer Lacazette claims he was upset by manager Hubert
Fournier for failing to protect him throughout this upon his return to
pre-season training.
‘It affects you, to be honest. You want to think about something else, but you cannot,’ he added to L’Equipe.
‘Normally, you are happy to come
back (to a new season), to see everyone again… But the coaching staff
could see that I was not in a good place. The coach staff were expecting
a lot from me. And to see that I was not in a good way must have
annoyed them… I had a face like thunder, drawn features. It really hurt
me.’
This season so far, Lacazette has scored just once in six Ligue 1 matches for Lyon as he struggles with a niggling back injury.
