President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, June 26, dissolved the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
The notice was given to the board through a letter signed by Danladi Kifasi, head of the civil service of the federation.
Femi Adesina, a presidential aide, told Sahara Reporters that: “you can’t make changes without having new leadership” and that Buhari remains “committed to cleaning up the system, and wants accountability and transparency in the oil industry.”

A political associate of the president who spoke to Reuters said:“Nigeria’s oil sector is so dirty that nobody’s hands are clean enough to do the surgical changes needed.”
